Fall and Winter Fishing
We start our winter season catching Stripers in the valley. By the beginning of November, most of the best fishing is on the Smith River for King Salmon. These fish are very large and will take a fly.
December brings Steelhead into the Russian River. This is a busy time as we travel between the Smith, Eel, and Russian Rivers.
January 1st is the trout opener on the Stanislaus River and the fish are BIG! Salmon season is wrapping up but the steelhead fishing continues as long as the rains produce river flows.
The Russian River provides the angler the best chance for numbers of fish, however, the Smith is where you will get an opportunity to catch the largest steelhead in California.
We do single or multiple day Drift Boat Trips from the Russian to the Smith River. Trips are designed to break away from crowds and fishing pressure. All bait and casting tackle is provided. Flies, rods, line and beginner fly fishing lessons upon request. The boat is equipped for up to three fisherpersons with casting platforms and comfortable seating.
